Indian Springs Maple Sugaring - March 2017 - $5/child
We walked through the woods on a chilly, rainy March day to watch the sap run on the Maple Trees. Did you know it takes 40 gallons of sap to make 1 gallon of syrup. The kids learned so much and enjoyed the walk and hike in the woods. |

Sealife Aquarium - September 2016 - Homeschool days at Sealife Aquarium are a great way to see the museum on a budget. This museum is awesome for the elementary ages, my middle schooler was fascinated but ran through the museum at a much quicker pace. During homeschool week they offer many workshops to attend at no cost. They run homeschool week usually in September and again in May. Check the website for more details. They usually do it at the same time as the LEGO store in the mall.

The Compassion Experience - This was a meet up field trip as well. This experience transported you to life as a child in another country. This was a two hour walk through as the day in the life of a child from Africa, China, etc. Those who went reported that this made their children learn so much about other countries and very thankful for their lives here in the States. This is a traveling exhibit that was held in Detroit. No known date for it returning to the area anytime soon.

Meadowbrook Mansion - April 2017 - Meadowbrook through November 2017, is offering Free Fridays. A group of us met there for a picnic lunch and then took the tour. What a beautiful sight so close to home. A great time was had by all the attendees, I highly recommend attending before the Free Fridays are over.

Applewood Farms - Garden Tour - May 2017 - This group took a tour of the gardens and learned about the farm at Applewood Estate in Flint, Michigan. This hidden gem in the city of Flint is amazing. We hope to return in the fall 2017 for another session. We planted lettuce in their garden, made homemade butter and tasted the honey from the farm. All of Applewood Estates field trips and tours are free to the public.

Teen trip to the Holocaust Museum
This last May, 2017, we took our Teens to experience the Holocaust Museum in Farmington Hills, Michigan.
What a great experience for them to remember and slightly experience the horror of the time period. We actually heard the story of a survivor. She had some horrific experiences and was willing to share them with us. There are very few survivors alive today and she was fabulous to listen to. She kept thanking US for coming to visit and letting her tell us her story. What an amazing woman.
