http://trickgeography.com/store/p22/Trick_Geography%3A_USA--Student_Book.html

“I can’t believe how much I just learned!” That was one mom’s response after observing a single class session of Trick Geography. Trick Geography: USA Student Book is a simple, yet powerful geography curriculum which routinely moves students from geographic illiteracy to command of US states, capitals, and major bodies of water, mountains, deserts, and plains in just a few weeks. And all with ease and high retention! How does it work? New York looks like a stork, so we trace the dots of a stork drawn inside the state’s border. The capital is Albany, so we circle all the bunnies (Albany) that are running away from the stork (New York). It's THAT easy! Physical features are taught using simple connections. "The snake (Snake River) is coiled around Ida’s hoe (Idaho)." Delightful graphics, phonetic connectors, dot-to-dots, and fill-in-the-blanks facilitate multiple learning styles and make the process more like a game than a curriculum.

We are utilizing the Red Cross Babysitting Training book and the What to Expect Babysitting book.

Excerpt from What to expect Babysitting book -

Answers to the questions sitters ask most:
  • The parents want me to pick up their newborn every time he cries—won’t that spoil him?
  • A child who comes over for play dates always makes a terrible mess and never helps to clean up. What can I do?
  • The girl I baby-sit for tripped and got a bump on her head. What’s the best way to tell the parents?
  • I take care of a six-month-old and a three-year-old with completely different sleeping patterns. How do I juggle naptimes?
Packed with information and insight, the What to Expect Baby-Sitter’s Handbook covers all the basics and so much more. How to keep a child safe and what to do in an emergency. The top five reasons babies cry, and eleven surefire ways to calm them down. Taming temper tantrums and tempting the finicky eater. How to talk to a baby and how to get a toddler talking. Bathing, potty training, sibling disputes, time-outs—and how to make the family-sitter relationship a happy one. Plus, a special fill-in section where parents can write down what they think is important for sitters to know about their kids.

There will be some homework to be completed outside of class.

This class is based on the CHE program. From their website:  Teaching The Next Generation of Entrepreneurs. We are passionate about entrepreneurship. We are equally passionate about teaching the next generation to have God's perspective on work, and love it for what it is.Entrepreneurship is a way of looking at the world...Successful entrepreneurs look at the world through a lens of opportunity. We want to train the next generation to think entrepreneurially from a young age. Thinking outside of the box, looking for solutions where others see dead-ends and creating new opportunities are just a few of the things needed to succeed as an entrepreneur. Let us help pass this mindset on to your children and teens!A strong work ethic originates from God...God created work before the Fall. It is a good thing and is meant to provide fulfillment and as a means to glorify the Lord. So why do so many young people have a goal of avoiding work at all costs? Having a Biblical view of work is crucial for young people so they grow up to love hard work and the satisfaction that accompanies labor.  We have a passion to instill God’s perspective on work to the next generation!
