UPPER ELEMENTARY - GRADES 3-5
First Hour Choices - 12:10-1:10 3rd-5th graders
Please pick three choices from each hour for registering your child.
A first choice and two back-up options.
We try our best to arrange the first choice but classes fill-up and we will place you in your 2nd choice, the third choice is rarely used unless first choice is full and the second choice has been canceled due to lack of interest.
Most classes are limited to 12 students unless otherwise noted.
Army Base (K-5th grade) - $5
Teacher- Theresa Jaworski
Ready! Aim! Fire!!! Have fun battling with your army. This class is a creation of one of our own Hometeam Moms. This game involves strategy by taking the plastic army men, Styrofoam, Popsicle sticks, and Lincoln logs and build your base. Children are then matched with an opponent and you shoot rubber bands at your opponent to knock down their men. Winner is the one with the most men standing at the end of the match. Scores are kept, and an Army Base Champion is declared at the Championships the last day of the semester. Boys and Girls alike LOVE this class. Participation is required. Latex allergy students would be highly discouraged from participation.
Ballet/Tap - $5
Teacher – Lauren Postal
For beginner to intermediate dancers. Students will enjoy learning Ballet, Tap, Motor Skills, and Creative Dance while blending educational concepts such as dance history. Exploring topics such as; famous dancers, performances, and choreographers in history. Students will need ballet and tap shoes the first week.
***Scrapbooking - $5
Teacher – Debra Saul
This class will be based on interest and running against interest in Heroes of the Faith. Whichever class receives more interest will be the class to run. Students will be creating pages for the scrapbook they supply. Teacher has a ton of scrapbooking supplies and will be donating them towards the cause. Students can feel free to bring their own supplies as well. Students will need a scrapbook to put their pages in, also they should bring pictures to fill in their pages.

Teacher – Debra Saul
This class is based on interest and running against Scrapbooking. Whichever class receives the most interest will run, or we will try to find another teacher to teach one of the classes. This class will study missionaries and their stories. People like Amy Carmichal, David Livingstone, Billy Sunday, Hudson Taylor, Adoniram Judson, and so many more that helped spread the Gospel across the world.
US History - $5 - (5th grade only)
Teacher – Arlene Bramblett
Do you love History? We will be exploring our grand ole USA. Come join us on an adventure touring our great country. Learn about our fore fathers in a fun way. Mrs. Bramblett utilizes Drive Thru History videos and other visual learning options to make the class fun and engaging, and she even sometimes bring snacks!!
Intro to Cooking - $15
Teacher – Kristina Phelps
Learn the basics of cooking, cutting, preparing a table. A recipe will be given to the class and they will prepare the recipe and EAT! This class is always a hit and our teacher bring a great balance of well-loved recipes along with some ethnic creations as well. Join us for Intro to Cooking.
Karate for Kids - $60/$110 - for weekly classes
Teacher - Natalie Hargett - Outside Teacher
This is a new class for our co-op. Natalie is from the PKSA Karate Studio in Clarkston. Come get a taste of Karate. Students do not need uniform, please just wear gym clothes and tennis shoes. A waiver will need to be signed to attend this class. This class will also be offered on the off-weeks, but would cost an additional $50. Students can sign up for weekly or bi-weekly classes.
We specialize in increasing your child's self-confidence, discipline, and self-esteem. He/she will be taught child awareness, prevention, and effective self-defense techniques. In addition, we provide lots of fun and games to assist in keeping your child excited and interested.
Our instructors are thoroughly trained to teach our program, and they are required to stay current in our instructor certification program.
Black Beauty Book Club - $5
Teacher – Janel Deaver
Please join us for an active book club for Horse lovers! We will read and discuss the classic story of "Black Beauty". The students will also learn each week about various horse breeds and incorporate Art, Writing, and Speech activities into the classroom. The class fee will also cover the cost of the book for your child to keep as well as a weekly Study Guide.
Astronaut Academy – (3rd only) – Cost $5

Do you dream of blasting off into space and exploring Mars? If the answer is yes, then enroll in Astronaut Academy to learn skills used by real life astronauts. You’ll discover how astronauts fly a spacecraft, walk in space and carry out space experiments. Fun activities include trying astronaut food, building a rocket, grow your own space food, investigating gravity and much more. So strap on your moon boots and prepare to take off!
2nd Hour Classes – 1:30-2:30 (3rd-5th Grade)
Michigan History - $5

This is often a class that kids take in 4th grade at the public school. This class will cover all the basics about our beautiful state. Come join with friends and learn all about what makes our state unique.
Christmas Workshop – $25
Teacher – Linda McKinney & Erin Brewster
In this class, the students will make a gift for a special someone each week, at the end of the semester they will have 5 nice gifts to give to family or friends. They will come home wrapped and ready to put under the Christmas tree.
Gym – 3rd only - $0

Jump, play, and burn energy. Join us to play games and have fun.
STEM class - $10

Science, Technology, Engineering & Math – Keep your kids minds engaged with this class. The kids will be using HANDS on STEM products. Things may include robot kits, building toys with gears and using projects for STEM from Pinterest.
Astronaut Academy – (4th-5th only) - Cost $5

Coding for Beginners - $0
Teacher - Holly Cheyne
In this modern day and age, computer literacy is becoming more and more important. This class will be using one of two coding websites, Scratch and Code.org. All students will be required to bring a laptop to use. The class will also be self-directed. Instructions will be provided, and help will be available, but students must be able to self-guide. This program will need to be downloaded to the laptop directly as often the church wifi is sketchy. This class will be a complete beginner's guide to coding. Step-by step instruction will be given for getting started and making games, animations and more.
Herbal Fairies - $8 – 3rd grade only
Teacher – Lauren Postal/Di Higuchi
Learn about herbs and natural herbal remedies in introduction to Herb Fairies. Herb Fairies is a children’s herbal learning system that engages kids through stories, and encourages them to learn even more by providing exciting hands-on activities. Herb Fairies empowers families to be healthier and closer to nature.
Drama - $0
Teacher – JoAnne Kroll
This class will build on skills learned in the fall to present a play together. The goal is to have fun and work together to bring joy to our audience. Students must be able to read fluently. This class has outside commitment to learn your lines, if you are not able to commit to learning your lines, please do not sign up for this class.
Pinterest Crafting – 5th only - $25

This class will take all those amazing creations you see on Pinterest and make them a reality. Students will need a white pair of canvas shoes at some point in the semester and due to them being seasonal, please purchase ASAP. These are not included in the class cost. An Introduction to American Sign Language (K-6th) - $0
Teacher - Amy Sajtos
Topics include: basic vocabulary, grammar, history, fingerspelling, numbers, terminology, and Deaf culture. Special note: one lesson per week (two bi-weekly) a total of 15 lessons. This course will require 45 to 60 at home online contact-hours
Mrs. Sajtos is fluent in ASL. She has taught many classes on this subject and will be a wonderful asset to our middle and high school level courses. She puts her heart and soul into teaching ASL correctly. The following curriculum will be required for this course and she will have homework, testing and quizzes. She may require meeting on off Thursdays or online chats. Please do not print the curriculum below until you are assured that this class has the volume to run.

THIRD Hour – 2:30-3:30 (3rd-5th grade)
Beginning Chinese – $110
Teacher – Amanda Jubelt
This is a weekly class that will be meeting every Thursday, please note by signing up for this class you making a committment to come weekly to participate. Amanda is an outside teacher that is coming to teach. In this class, students will learn basic Chinese language (spoken and written) and culture. We will begin with pinyin (romanized Chinese spelling to learn pronunciation of Chinese words) and advance to hanzi (Chinese characters). This is a weekly class so that we can offer the students more opportunity to use their new language skills on a regular basis. This class will require a weekly commitment and will be required to attend on the off-week class dates. Times will remain the same, unless told otherwise by the teacher/coordinator.
Crossfit for Kids - $60

Have you ever watched the crossfit games and wonder how those people train for their sport. We will be welcoming them into Hometeam.
The CrossFit kids program is designed for kids. This is an awesome opportunity for kids to discover that fitness and a healthy lifestyle is FUN! With high quality coaches to ensure SAFETY, children will be introduced to the CrossFit methodology of constantly varied, functional movements, (intensity applied when older and appropriate) ... With fun!
Weird Science – $5

Weird science is a fun, hands-on class that explores some of the messy, gooey, and explosive parts of science.
Escape Room - $5
Teacher – Shannon Dove
Can your student escape the classroom? This is a new unique class based on the HOT escape room concept. Solve the mystery that is education based and in the meantime the students will learn critical thinking, problem solving, communication and collaboration along with creativity and innovation.

Trick Geography - USA Version– $10

Beginning Voice Lessons – 5th grade only- $7

A vocal teacher can help you improve your voice/singing through proper breathing, posture, tone production, intonation, diction, phrasing and ear training. Come join this beginning class and learn to improve your singing voice. Class fee includes a CD of songs for at home practice.
Calligraphy – 5th grade only - $10
Teacher – Debra Saul
Old fashioned fancy writing is a dying art. It is beautiful, artistic and unique. Come learn technique and style and impress your friends. A calligraphy set will be provided.
Watercolors (3rd only) - $5
Teacher – Michelle Hojna
Come learn the technique of painting with watercolors. Each week will have a theme for the month also including learning the color wheel.
